ROS 2 Humble Hawksbill Release

Humble Hawksbill is a long-term support (LTS) release that will be supported until May 2027. This is the first ROS 2 release on Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy Jellyfish). Humble support three Tier 1 operating systems: Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish (both arm64 and amd64 architectures) and Windows 10.

NVIDIA and Open Robotics are introducing two important changes to the Humble ROS 2 release for improved performance. The new ROS 2 Humble hardware-acceleration features are called type adaptation and type negotiation. These additions will significantly increase performance for developers seeking to incorporate AI/machine learning and computer vision functionality.

Intel will contribute to RISC-V as part of its bet that the instruction set architecture will fuel growth for its revitalized contract chip manufacturing business. The chipmaker also launched a $1 billion innovation fund that will support chip designers, including those making components.

NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin-powered production systems unveiled at COMPUTEX in Taipei. Jetson Orin packs 8x processing power of predecessor, NVIDIA AGX Xavier, in the same pin-compatible form factor. New products are coming from Taiwan-based camera, sensor and hardware providers for use in edge AI, robotics and embedded applications.

Nvidia promises annual updates across CPU, GPU, DPU lines

Nvidia will introduce a new GPU architecture every two years. Products will be updated in years between the release of new architectures. Intel is again delaying a planned entry to the discrete GPU market.
